Small business marketing strategies should be seriously considered when looking to promote your products or services online. There are various forms of advertising online that you can do like Article marketing and Blog posting but Video marketing is by far the most powerful.
Showing a product or demonstrating a service that people can see will give you an edge over your competition and should definitely be part of your web marketing strategy. There are certain things that you should not do and one of the most important is not to try and sell too hard in your videos.
The video marketing strategy that you should consider adopting would me more of a two pronged attack and this is because you want to be targeting different types of viewer.
The first type of person you want to target is the information seeker. This is a person who is looking to maybe purchase your product but needs to know more about how it works and why it is better than other similar products on the market.
The video that you would produce for this type of person would be more of an informational one. The content of this would heavily focus on the features and benefits of your product and the end of the video should be different as well.
If you look around online and You Tube is a great place to see this, you will notice at the end of most promotional videos there is what is known as a call to action. This is where you ask the viewer to do something themselves which is normally to click on a link that is below the video.
Where a lot of people make a mistake with their small business marketing strategies is by trying to make a sale through the call to action. You will find links that go straight through to a sales page and often the viewer is not yet ready to purchase as they are only looking to gather information at this present time.
The common conception is that it takes a person will look at a product about six times from initial viewing to actually purchasing. So sending them to a sales page straight away is a big mistake and you will probably end up losing a potential customer forever.
The way to deal with these viewers is to set up what is known as a capture page so that you can get their e-mail address. At the end of the video your call to action should be a “for more information link”. This link would go to to another page full of information only with no sales links at all.
On this webpage would be your extra information plus a free gift for anybody who is willing to leave their e-mail address. The free gift must be related to the product or business service that you are promoting as you will get nowhere if you give away say a book on “how to get a credit card” if you are promoting a service on “how to manage your debt. Once you have their e-mail address and as long as you do not try and sell too hard in your follow up e-mails you will normally not get many if any unsubscribers. Build up a trust with your subscriber and and you will find a willing customer not only for your own product but any others that you may recommend in the future.
The other type of video that you should look to produce would be a sales one with again features and benefits being heavily promoted. This video will have a purchase now call to action and a link under the video straight to a sales page.
Keyword research plays a big part in any small business marketing strategies and knowing which ones to target for your videos are crucial. There are two types of keyword that you should target and these are known as “buying” and “non buying” keywords. Buying keywords normally contain a product name within them and non buying keywords are more like “how to” or other questions. Failure to put the right type of keywords with their associated videos is the quickest way to get your web marketing strategy to fail.
